Founder Thomas G. Williams worked for the Powder River County road department for 13 years until 1948. Williams and Sons was established in May 1950 by Thomas G. Williams and his three sons; Thomas L., Loren, and Kenneth Williams along with wife Isabell {Powell} Williams and daughter Loyce Williams to provide services unavailable in the area. Williams and Sons built roads for the county and provided construction services for residents such as building reservoirs, land leveling, private road maintenance, fire fighting for the forest service and BLM, building and maintaining irrigation systems, snow removal, and the occasional search and rescue. Incorporated in 1969 Williams and Sons took over the eastern Powder River County road maintenance contract in 1970 and kept that contract for over six years at which time it went back to the county road department. Approaching retirement Thomas G. Williams turned over control of the business to his oldest son Thomas L. whom has control to this day. With the change of times so did Williams and Sons have to change, when oil production dropped off in Belle Creek, Montana the amount of work in the construction industry in the area also dropped off, so Thomas L. took the equipment to Gillette, Wyoming where they were experiencing a boom. In Gillette, Thomas L. along with his two sons Jacob, John and oldest daughter Pamela with her husband Greg who had started a construction business in the area, made an attempt to keep the business thriving. Williams and Sons continued to work in Wyoming until the mid 1980s when the boom dropped and the worked decreased. Williams and Sons continued to do work for long time customers in the area but due to its spuratic nature the officers obtained jobs for other companies. In June 2003 due to an increase demand for construction services in Powder River County and surrounding area, Williams and Sons started back into full production and due to the needs of the area diversified to offer additional services not previously provided by the company or anyone else in the area.
